There are 48 new Mario Kart 8 courses that will be added in six different waves over the course of two years. The first eight courses are Paris Promenade, Tokyo Blur, Coconut Hall, Shroom Ridge, Sky Garden, and Ninja Hideaway. The Booster Course Pass will allow players who don’t want to buy it to enjoy it. The first wave of new courses will be available on March 18 if someone buys the DLC. The time has come. Every year, I complain about Nintendo not doing enough with the DLC for Mario Kart 8.

The first wave of the booster course pass is out. If you have the Expansion Pack subscription, you will get it for free. There isn’t a lot in terms of the peanut gallery of releases, because studios probably know better than to take on Mario Kart 8 DLC! It is still one of Nintendo’s best-sellers on the Switch. Mario Kart 8 is the first Mario game on the Nintendo console. It’s a port of Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U and has a lot of new features. It was teased in the announcement video.
Most of the base and DLC content of Mario Kart 8 can be found in the game. Miiverse compatibility, stamps, and the ability to highlight reels on YouTube were discontinued on the Wii U version when Miiverse was terminated. Battle Mode has been changed. The largest starting roster of any Mario Kart game can be found with characters that were originally unlocked in Mario Kart 8. Characters can now carry up to two items at once, even if they don’t drag the first item, and the game features the return of the Double item box from Mario Kart: Double Dash. Smart Steering and auto-accelrate make driving and staying on the track easier for beginners, while the latter makes the vehicle automatically accelerate.

The player’s vehicle will have an antenna out of its rear end if the Smart Steering mode is on. There is an additional level of Mini-Turbo called Ultra Mini-Turbo, which has purple sparks after the orange sparks. If Smart Steering is off, this new level of Mini-Turbo can only be used. The 200cc engine class has been added. Some of the staff ghosts for 150cc have slightly different times compared to the original, while there are new staff ghosts for 200cc. The in-game guide is accessible from the game’s menu and explains various techniques, battle mode and the functions of each item. When playing with a single Joy-Con, there is an option to change character and vehicle combinations without leaving the online lobby. When compared to the Wii U game, the game has reduced loading times.
Some of the vehicle parts that are exclusive to Mario Kart 8 are now randomly unlocked. There are more character weight classes when compared to the Wii U game, with several returning characters having different statistics, thus resulting in fewer characters having the same statistics as each other. The statistics of some vehicle parts have been altered, and certain physics elements, such as the speed increase per stat and the acceleration tiers, have been adjusted. The pathing and drifting patterns have been adjusted for the 200cc engine class. Triple Red Shells can be obtained from item boxes. This only happens in the Shells Only setting. The online lobbies for Worldwide or Regional VS Race have been changed so that players will be randomized either a 100cc or 150cc race, or even 200cc race, starting at over 3000 VR. They wear racing attire in the Nintendo Switch version.
The game renders in native 1920×1080 resolution in TV mode, and in native 1728×962 in handheld mode, instead of using the original Wii U version’s dynamic rendering resolution. In earlier builds, motion blur was present in splitscreen and in online mode. When characters are inked by a Blooper, they no longer react. The course map color on the race tracks is white, instead of blue, and includes the maps of all three Rainbow Roads and GCN Baby Park. The battle courses have shaded areas and lines on their maps to make it easier for players to determine where they are. The course map has character icons that are slightly larger and more detailed. The first place player in a race no longer has a crown on their mini-map icon, but they still do in battles. The explosion of a Bob-omb or Spiny Shell can be seen on the course map. Each player will have their own copy of the map in the Wii U version, but in local splitscreen, there will only be one map in the center of the screen.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC Tracks
The loading screen now has Inkling Girl and Link on it. Behind the vehicles, flags colored to correspond to the teams are added. The Smart Steering antenna is the pole of the flag if Smart Steering is on. The flags do not show up in Balloon Battle or Bob-omb Blast as the balloons show the teams. This extends to online battle lobbies, which will display a yellow balloon, a potted plant, a coin, a Shine Sprite, or a Bob-omb to signify which battle mode is. When spectating an online race or battle, players can see the lap count or timer. It is no longer possible to see the lap count when crossing the finish line or the full results in the online lobbies at the end of the race. There are all the base and DLC characters in Mario Kart 8.
The two Villagers have been separated after being in the same character slot, with the female Villager being considered a variant of the male one, in Mario Kart 8. The only unlocked character in this game is Gold Mario. All cups of the 200cc Grand Prix are unlocked by clearing them. The version 1.6.0 update added a new variant for Link based on his appearance in Breath of the Wild. When Gold Mario is unlocked and Breath of the Wild Link is downloaded, they become the default variations of their character, while Metal Mario and Skyward Sword Link are demoted to alternate costumes.
